Staff Selection Commission has issued the SSC CGL 2020-21 Notification. Staff Selection Commission conducts Combined Graduate Level Examination (SSC CGL) to recruit candidates for various “Group B” & “Group C” posts in the central government Ministries/Department.
This exam has 4 stages called Tier I, Tier II, Tier III and the last one is Tier IV. The first two Tier is of online mode while the remaining two are offline. Candidates must qualify for each stage to appear for the next.
SSC CGL exam is known for its high reputed posts in central government for which lakh of students apply every year thinking to get the job.
It’s a very good opportunity for students preparing for SSC CGL 2021. In this year also thousands of vacancies will be filled through this exam.
SSC CGL 2020 Exam Dates: Important Dates:
The notification has been released on 29 Dec 2020. Candidates can fill the form from 29 Dec 2020 to 31 Jan 2021.
Tier I Exam will be held from 29 May 2021 to 07 June 2021.

For 2020 SSC has not declared the number of vacancies. But after some time will have to be declared. Previous year there was 8582 vacancy in Notification in which 3674 vacancy was for General category. While in the year 2018 Total 11271 vacancy was to be filled.

Application Fee:
- Gen and OBC Candidates have to pay Rs. 100.
- No application fee is required for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Physical Handicapped, and Female of any category.
- Pay the exam fee through Debit card, Credit card, NetBanking, UPI, or by generating an SBI challan.
- Online payment facility will be active till 02 Feb 2021 while offline cash payment through SBI challan up to 06 Feb 2021.
- Candidates are advised to pay the exam fee and complete the application form without waiting for the last date to avoid delay.

SSC CGL Exam Pattern and Selection Process:
SSC CGL exam is conducted in four phases which are given below.

Tier I Exam Pattern and Overview: Four subjects will be asked in Tier I. Subjects are mentioned below. Candidates are advised to go through the data given.
- A total of 100 Questions are asked.
- Each question is of 2 marks and 1/2 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
- Candidates have to attempt questions of four subjects in 60 minutes.

Tier-II Exam Pattern and Overview: After qualified in Tier I, candidates have to appear in the Tier-II exam.
- Tier II comprises four papers. A total of 200 marks are allotted for each paper.
- 1/2 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer in Paper I, III, and IV.
- While 1/4 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer in Paper-II.
- Paper 1 and Paper 2 are compulsory for all the posts.
- Only those candidates will be eligible to appear in Paper 3 of Tier II who have applied for Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) and shortlisted in Tier-II for this post.
- Only those candidates will be eligible to appear in Paper 4 of Tier II who have applied for Assistant Audit Officer/Assistant Accounts Officer and shortlisted in Tier-II for this post.

Tier III Exam pattern and Overview:
- This stage is descriptive in nature and has to be done using pen and paper.
- The exam will be conducted in both Hindi and English Language.
- Candidates can write in any language in which they are comfortable.
- The main of this exam is to evaluate writing ability related to grammar, vocabulary knowledge, and language proficiency.

Tier IV Exam Pattern:
Tier III pass students will be eligible for Tier IV. In this stage, qualified students have to perform skill tests comprising the Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) and Data Entry Speed Test (DPST). This test is performed for certain posts.
Note:
- “Data Entry Speed Test” is for those candidates who opted for the Tax Assistants post (Central Excise & Income Tax) while filling the form and fulfill all the eligibility criteria.
- Under the “Computer Proficiency Test”, Candidates have to generate slides as per instructions which is a part of the Tier IV Exam.
- This slide generation is performed by candidates who opted for Assistant Section Officer in CSS, MEA & AFHQ, Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Assistant (GSI) in Ministry of Mines, Inspector (Central Excise), Inspector (Preventive Officer), Inspector (Examiner) in CBIC.
